Advanced U9 boys in Smashers group will be identified and encouraged to also tryout for our Madlax All-Stars U9 travel team, www.madlax.com/spring, which plays in an elite league with games on Sundays.

We will evaluate players the first day and determine where to place your child. All pure beginners will start in SCOOPERS. PK or 4 year olds are allowed with director approval. Email the director at camps@madlax.com. Players will be moved between groups throughout spring as neccessary based on skill and improvement. If you are unsure about what group to start your child in assume SCOOPERS for the first day. We will keep groups small so sign up now as these clinics will fill up. Click 'Online Application' above to register!

Age Division Explanation and Details:
All players will be divided into 4 groups this spring as follows.

Scoopers Team (Most 5-7 year old boys and girls who are in 1st or 2nd season) just requires a full size complete lacrosse stick . No contact and we use lighter/softer balls.
Scooper Smashers Team (5-8 year old boys who have played at least 1 season) requires full pads and complete boys stick. Light contact and we use real balls.
Smashers Team (6-9 year old boys who have played at least 2 seasons) requires full pads and complete boys stick. Also a mouthpiece is strongly recommended. Full contact and we use real balls. This is generally a U9 team with boys born between 9.1.02-8.31.04.
Scoopers Pro Team (7-9 year old girls who have played at least 1 season) requires a complete girls stick, mouthpiece and eye goggles. Full contact and we use real balls. This is generally a U9 team with girls born between 9.1.02-8.31.04.

REQUIRED EQUIPMENT

SCOOPERS will be non-contact for both boys and girls.  We will only require a complete stick for this group. We will use softer balls in this group to avoid injury as well. Click here to buy an official Complete Boys Stick. Girls can use boys sticks since they are SO much easier to use and better for beginners or a Complete Girls Stick.  We do not want anyone using fiddlesticks or other mini-sticks so please buy a regulation stick. We will easily cut sticks down for them the first session.

SMASHERS, SCOOPER SMASHERS and SCOOPERS PRO will be in full pads and be light contact for boys and girls 5-9.  We also ask campers to wear cleats and bring a Complete Boys or Girls Stick. All players in this group should have had experience playing before in a Madlax clinic or another similar lacrosse clinic or camp. We will evaluate the first day and determine where to place your child.

Concept/Philosophy:
This is a fun, instructional league where emphasis is placed on improving individual skills and basic team concepts. It is the goal of Madlax coaches to instill a love for sports through this lacrosse league. We want every camper to leave SCOOPERS loving lacrosse and wanting more! We will provide the best instruction and safe learning environment for young, aspiring players. Focus will be placed on having fun, safety, teaching and showing proper individual skills for each camper.

Campers will be placed in groups (see above) according to size, skill, and experience. In all groups we will teach specific individual skills and basic team concepts. We will play numerous games that keep them moving and we will play modified games like Fireball, Steal the bacon, and Musical Balls. We utilize fun competition in small and various group drills to teach specific aspects of the game. Occasionally Madlax will reward one "Camper of the Day" who exemplifies great attitude and effort for the session. This is a small part of the exciting CASE Intiative that can't start too young for future Madlax All-Stars! This award goes to the camper who shows the best effort that day, asks great questions, hustles, and proves to the coaches that he/she wants to get better while having fun!
